The Dept. of Education has reinstated the online application for Income Driven Repayment plans and loan consolidation. Borrowers on the SAVE plan remain on an interest-free forbearance until further notice or unless they apply for another IDR plan. “I came to EDCAP while pursuing PSLF but struggled with the form process. My loans were stuck with a non-PSLF servicer and, once transferred to MOHELA, my PSLF Certification forms weren’t processed correctly. One of my loans had an incorrect payment count, requiring 11 extra months of payments. EDCAP intervened with the FSA Ombudsman and got the count corrected. In November 2024, my entire balance was forgiven, and I’m due a $2,000 refund.”
