Who We Are

The Education Debt Consumer Assistance Program (EDCAP), a program of the Community Service Society of New York (CSS), is funded by New York State to assist New Yorkers struggling with student debt. EDCAP helps borrowers navigate the student loan repayment system and regain financial health, while also supporting future students in applying for financial aid and reducing their debt burden. As an independent, nonprofit program, EDCAP serves as a one-stop resource for both federal and private student loan borrowers. Learn more about our free services.

For more than 175 years, the Community Service Society of New York has been the leading voice on behalf of New Yorkers and continues to advocate for the economic security of the working poor. CSS responds to urgent, contemporary challenges with applied research, advocacy, litigation, and innovative program models that help New Yorkers achieve a better quality of life and promote a more prosperous city and state.
